My Perfect Breakfast Bowl Recipe (Day 3)

Let me preface this by saying I am so not a breakfast person. I know for some people it’s their favorite meal of the day but for me, it’s one I don’t often have (if I’m being honest). Don’t get me wrong, I would absolutely kill for a pancake or waffle breakfast any day of the week (calories, sugar, etc. aside), but otherwise it’s a challenge to think of healthy breakfast options that I would be eager to incorporate into my daily eating habits. Ones that are worthy of waking up early to prepare before my morning workout. Yes, I workout in a fasted state, no, I don’t have any problem doing so.

Now that we’re all caught up on my personal morning dining habits, I’ll admit I had seen quite a few protein bowls or post-workout bowls on Instagram recently that in addition to being very photogenic also looked delicious, healthy and breakfast worthy, even for this breakfast averse girl. I’d saved a few over the years and one weekend recently, before a trip to the grocery store I was inspired to finally take the plunge and give one a try.

Fast forward a month or so later and I’m now a breakfast girly, starting each morning with my favorite breakfast bowl. I mean it, I absolutely look forward to my first meal of the day and the best part is it’s SUPER easy to prepare. No cooking is involved and it features a lot of ingredients that you can easily buy in bulk during your next trip to Costco or Sam’s Club and have in your pantry/fridge/freezer for weeks on end.

What I’m going to share with you is my ideal breakfast bowl but please know that the ingredients can be changed or edited to better align with your favorite flavors and dietary restrictions. In fact, I’d love it if you changed it up! Let the below inspire you to create your own breakfast bowl and then share that with me! No guarantees I’ll give up my dreamy morning bowl but I can’t wait to see what suits your fancy for the first meal of your day.

Ingredients:

Dairy Free Yogurt

Frozen Berries

Almond Butter

Walnuts (Pieces and halves are ideal, not whole)

Homemade Granola (Should I share this recipe too??)

Sunflower Seeds

Hemp Seeds

Cacao Nibs

Preparation Directions:

Grab your favorite medium sized bowl, a spoon and the above ingredients to prepare your delicious breakfast bowl. Personally, I don’t measure any of the above ingredients but merely eyeball them and put them into my aforementioned breakfast bowl. Of course I’m all about the presentation and try to keep it as ‘Instagrammable’ as possible (see below), sectioning off my ingredients accordingly. No matter how you serve it (or eat it!) this breakfast bowl is a household favorite and has changed this non-breakfast eater into someone who looks forward to the first meal of the day.

Send me pics if you give this breakfast bowl a try! Or perhaps you have your own variation you’d like to share. I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to send me an email at caseyk@almostfabulousme.com or DM me on Instagram (@almostfabme).
